COLBY'S ART STUDIO, LATE 1700'S (Sleepy Hollow - Fox)
This is one of my all time favorite sets, simply because there were so many components and it involved an insane amount of pre-planning. The scripted story was that a painting being revitalized by a restorer begins to bleed. As the story progresses, the audience learns that the painting itself is possessed with a killer from the colonial past (Colby), the artist who painted himself within it. There was ultimately a shot where the main characters were sucked into the painting and onto a set that matched exactly. I had the honor of not only rendering the set and drawing it up for construction, but also of dusting off my brushes and painting the five paintings that were featured in the episode. We had to carefully coordinate the look of the actor, costumes, set dressing, and the set itself in order for a successful transition between painted world and real one.

The Paintings
I painted the five paintings that “came to life” as the episode progressed.
